Aerial view of the pumptrack in Saint-Nazaire
Read off this view on 9 September 2026: a sealed surface, a footprint of about 1 600 m², 32 rollers, 20 banked turns. A large sealed track with interlocking loops, one grey part and one with a reddish surface, with white ground markings. White lines follow the centreline of the loops over much of the track. A very large track with a wealth of loops and routes: all levels, room to progress for a long time. It shows the layout, not the state of the rollers or the surface, and may predate the pumptrack. © IGN — BD ORTHO®, Licence Ouverte 2.0.

What the town says about it

A third source, neither the ministry census nor OpenStreetMap: what the town itself publishes. It is the only one that says where a facility came from, who built it and what it cost.

The Reton pumptrack is not a standalone object: the town frames it as the first delivery of a cycling hub laid out behind the Jean-Fabry gymnasium, on a Reton site whose full redevelopment is put at 4.7 million euros. The layout was discussed with residents and riders between May 2022 and June 2023.1

Design and construction went to Hurricane Tracks, selected in April 2023. The works took place in July, the track opened in early August, and the official opening was set for 13 September 2023. The loop runs about 500 metres over a 3,500 m² footprint, 70 metres long by 50 wide, and offers five difficulty levels, from two beginner lines to one expert line.1, 2

The pumptrack alone costs 348,000 euros. The Reton cycling complex as a whole is put at 650,000 euros incl. tax, with a 200,000-euro grant from the Agence nationale du sport.1

« Cet équipement est la première livraison d'un projet plus ambitieux : la création d'un véritable complexe dédié au vélo. »

“This facility is the first delivery of a more ambitious project: the creation of a true complex dedicated to cycling.”
